COVID-19 Update

Model UN will be offered in person. However, if conditions change, the camps will be offered on a virtual platform. 

Students MUST be fully vaccinated to attend camp. Any student who has COVID-19 symptoms or has a known exposure to COVID-19 are required to email the result of a negative COVID-19 PCR test to our Volunteer Services Manager, Destiny Butler, by 4 PM on the Friday before Camp begins or the student will not be able to participate.

(These guidelines are based on the most recent guidance from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The American Camp Association (ACA), and The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services)

About the Award

About The Program

Students will learn how Model United Nations can be used as a vehicle for learning about the world around us, civic engagement, and personal growth.

Students will form partnerships and teams based on team-building exercises and engagement to solve social and global issues. In addition to learning about institutions and systems that shape international relations, students will develop practical leadership and presentation skills.

*We ask that students bring a laptop/tablet and a charger each day if possible*

Specifically, some learning objectives covered will be:

  • Debate
  • Parliamentary Procedures
  • Public Speaking
  • Independent Research
  • Diplomacy

Model UN runs Mon-Fri, from 9:00am – 4:00pm and will be held at the Duke Corporate Education building in Durham. 

Financial Assistance

Tuition
The cost to attend Model UN Week is $575 

  • A $50 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT MUST BE MADE BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR REGISTRATION FORM. You may also pay more than that/up to the full amount. You will be asked to upload your receipt at the time of registration. If you require financial aid, you will instead upload a screenshot of your scholarship application confirmation email. 
  • If students register for multiple weeks of TNVLC’s Summer Programming, the price is reduced to $515 per week. This discount also applies if multiple students from the same household register.
  • By referring a friend, both yourself and your referred friend will receive a $25 discount. MAX 1 referral discount per student.
  • Tuition includes a “Make a Difference” T-Shirt


The Center works hard to ensure no student is turned away for inability to pay.

There are a limited number of scholarships available for need-based financial assistance for Model UN.

Cancellation/Refunds

There is a $50 non-refundable administration fee for all registrations.

Full Refunds (less non-refundable administration fee) will be issued if cancellation notification (in writing) is received two weeks in advance of program start date.

Cancellations received less than two weeks prior to programs start date are not eligible for refunds. (Please contact program staff for emergency exceptions.)
